New to Biogas? Great! Learning how to make your own renewable energy from food waste is a fascinating and truly rewarding journey. We designed HomeBiogas 2.0 to be super simple and easy to use. Just toss in your organic waste, and the bacteria will do the rest. Here are the basics of how it works:
Leftover food or food scraps may not be suitable for eating, but they still have calories that can be used to create energy. So don't throw them out! Put food waste or animal manure into the appliance. The bacteria in the digester will break down the organic matter and convert it into biogas and fertilizer. The gas bag holds 700 liters of biogas at all times, ready for all your cooking needs. It is a 100% off-the-grid and natural process, similar to what happens in your own stomach.

The new HomeBiogas 2.0 appliance provides double the capacity of our last system at a fraction of the cost. It’s more lightweight, more durable, and more powerful. HomeBiogas 2.0 is the next step in bringing biogas to backyards around the world.
- How safe is the HomeBiogas system?
We have taken many steps to validate the quality and the safety of our system, including having the unit audited for safety by a qualified safety engineer who is a biogas expert. Additionally, we have a European CE certificate for safety.
HomeBiogas is not only safe, it is safer than LPG and propane! In order to remain in a liquefied state in storage, LPG must be kept under high-pressure conditions. This poses a greater risk of explosion when in the vicinity of an ignition source. HomeBiogas, on the other hand, purposefully stores the gas in a soft case, at a low pressure, which prevents explosion.
- How is HomeBiogas 2.0 installed?
HomeBiogas 2.0 is shipped to you in a small box. Unlike other biogas digesters, you do not need a technician to install the system. It is a do-it-yourself kit, that comes with all the necessary tools and detailed instructions. The appliance can be assembled in about 1 hour!
- What types of waste can you put into HomeBiogas 2.0?
The HomeBiogas 2.0 appliance thrives on food leftovers and animal manure. An equal amount of water should be added with the waste.
Avoid feeding large quantities of citrus fruit skin or chicken droppings since it can reduce the effectiveness of the digestion.
- Does it smell?
No. Unlike compost heaps, HomeBiogas 2.0 does not smell. The breakdown of the organic material happens submerged below water. Additionally, there is a lid that seals the inlet tightly.
