Collegicoin - Bringing Crypto to the Classroom

How I Serve

I search for emerging companies, technologies, disruptive technologies,

innovations, start-ups and up-starts. I’ll look to match potential problems…

e.g. “plastic pollution” to solutions… e.g. 3D Printer for recycled plastic waste…

for potential venture capitalists, angel investors, and online funders.

I’ll also highlight a variety of topics including funding success stories,

the environment, housing, medical, artificial intelligence, science,

aging populations, disabled populations, social entrepreneurs, philanthropy,

and topical news. I’m always searching for great people innovating,

inventing, and doing, great things.

Collegicoin! Bringing crypto to the classroom!
We seek to help students better afford college tuition and supplies through scholarships/investments
Kevin Bisner
Las Vegas, United States

Collegicoin is a new cryptocurrency that will help students pay for their secondary education costs. We will work with college and university bookstores, vendors on and around campuses, as well as online textbook retailers to allow students to pay with collegicoins. We will also provide a yearly scholarship to selected students who show financial need. While we won't be able to change the cost of education, we can do everything we can to help students pay for it.

Summary

The cost for college tuition in the United States (and maybe countries around the world) is getting out of control. Not only are students taking out more loans than ever before, they are also having a difficult time paying them back.

My name is Kevin Bisner and I am an Adjunct Professor of Communication at a Nevada college. I see students struggling every semester to afford a $60.00 textbook for my class (Public Speaking). It's heartbreaking that some students can't afford the text, which is required to do well in the course. This shouldn't be happening. Students shouldn't have their grades suffer just because they can't afford a textbook.
With your help, we can help students afford things like their textbooks, meals on campus, and even a portion of their tuition.their basic needs in school without having to incur more debt.

What We Need & What You Get

We need money to make this happen!
The cost for listing on coin exchanges, continued development, and marketing, are the three big areas we need help with. One of the smaller exchanges, Cryptobridge, charges 2 Bitcoin to list on their exchange (over $12,000) while other larger exchanges like HitBTC charge 60 BTC (or about $400,000)!
It's not easy to start a coin and the environment right now in cryptocurrency is set up so only the large businesses, who already have money, can continue to make more. This is why we need your help.
We have some pretty cool rewards for those of you who are able to help.
Rest assured, any of the funds collected will go to the areas above, even if we do not reach our goal.

The Impact

Helping out, no matter how small, will have a huge impact directly on students. Not only will you help us get the word out to students, but you'll also help pay for some students' costs. We will take 10% of the funds donated and add them to our scholarship fund. Once a year we will provide a small scholarship to selected students to help them in funding their education.
It seems the first thing to get cut in government spending is education. I believe that's the completely wrong way of thinking. The more educated our society is, the more likely we will be able to come up with solutions to many of the problems we face today. No student should have to say no to college just because they can't afford it.

Risks & Challenges

One of the things we strive for at Collegicoin is true transparency. This is very uncommon in the crypto world and that's not the way we want to do things. We will convert all funds to bitcoin and store it in a public address. We will create a section on our website showing the current value of the coins in that address as well as what each withdrawal was used for.

We truly believe that what sets us apart is the fact that the person running this coin is a teacher, not a businessman or a developer. Teachers believe in doing what is right for the students, not for their wallet.

Other Ways You Can Help

We know that everyone can't give money to a cause that's near and dear to their heart, but that doesn't mean you can't still help! One of the best things we can do is to continue to get community support. Share this campaign, our website, our twitter page, our discord server, or just scream "COLLEGICOIN" from a mountaintop!
